I achieved a first-class honours degree in Chinese medicine from the University of Westminster. My training focused on acupuncture, tui na bodywork, cupping and Chinese dietary therapy. I am also a qualified massage therapist.
What I love most about Chinese medicine is its focus on the individual rather than on disease or illness. There is no one size fits all treatment, instead your condition is viewed within the context of you, your life and your constitution.
This focus on the individual and their needs is what makes Chinese medicine a holistic medicine.
I regularly attend continual professional development courses and events. This ensures I stay up to date with the latest research and techniques, in this way I nurture my own learning as well as continually improving my clinical skills for the benefit of my patients.
I am a firm believer in integrative healthcare and I welcome collaboration between different healthcare approaches. This stems from my experience of treating within an NHS chronic pain clinic where I saw first-hand the benefits of combining acupuncture alongside more conventional treatment approaches.
Acupuncture works to help maintain your body’s equilibrium by activating the circulatory, nervous and immune systems thereby assisting the body’s healing response.
Chinese medicine views illness and pain as an imbalance in our body’s energy, or qi. Very fine needles are used to clear blockages and regulate your body's qi.
Acupuncture treats the whole person and individuals often feel an increase in physical and emotional well being alongside treatment of their specific condition.
Who does Acupuncture work for?
People seek acupuncture treatment for a variety of conditions such as osteoarthritis of the knee, headaches, temporomandibular joint disorder and overactive bladder.
It is commonly used by pregnant women to reduce nausea and support their body throughout their pregnancy. Other people choose acupuncture when their bodily functions are out of balance, but they have no specific diagnosis.
Many individuals come for regular treatment simply to maintain health and promote relaxation.
